Stabling:
The Stanford Red Barn has 67 spacious and airy matted stalls in the historic Red Barn and the recently renovated School Barn. Stall sizes, depending on availability range from approximately 12′ x 12′ for standard stalls to 12′ x 18′ for foaling stalls. In 2014 the Red Barn added 32 additional stalls, 12′ x 12′ and 12′ x 16′ with attached paddocks for indoor/outdoor access.
Arenas:
The Red Barn has several riding arenas available for use, including:
- Show Arena, 120′ x 260′, with textile/sand footing suitable for competition dressage and show jumping
- Two covered, lighted arenas, each 110′ x 220′ with textile/sand footing
- Over-sized dressage arena, with Burlingham court, mirrors and new footing
- Covered and uncovered lunging arena
- Covered Eurocisor
Turnout:
Every horse stabled in the main barns has access to daily turn-out in one of the 40′ x 60′ paddocks. Paddocks are based for correct drainage with sand footing and Nelson automatic waterers.
Other Amenities:
The Stanford Red Barn also offers men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers, a newly retrofitted Clubhouse, grooming stalls, wash racks, and picnic areas.
Student Boarders:
Once a student is accepted to the university, and wishes to bring his or her horse, he or she should notify the Red Barn management. If the demand for stalls exceeds our availability, we will establish a waiting list. Criteria for evaluation include confirmed enrollment at Stanford University, participation in Stanford teams and programs, willingness to comply with the “Rules and Regulations” of the Red Barn, and the stable manners of the horse.
