BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION:

  • The Stanford Health Check must be taken 1-2 hours before entering the facility. 
  • The one-time COVID Facility Access Waiver needs to be completed before entering the AOERC and SRWC Recreation and Wellness Center.
  • Facial coverings are required to enter the building, wear a mask for the duration of your workout at the Strength Training Moat and Cardio Pool Deck; face shields alone are not permitted.
  • Please watch the AOERC Facility Walkthrough to learn more about navigating through the facility.
  • The Strength Training Moat, Rec Swim/Splash & Dash, and the Outside Fitness Garden are subject to closures due to rain or poor air quality. If we have to close, members should watch for email cancellations on their reservations. 

Stanford Stadium Recreation

We have been working hard over the past several months to bring you a new outdoor recreation facility for the Stanford Community. Stanford Stadium Recreation is now open for reservation!
SSR features a Fitness Field with weights and cardio equipment and a Rec Zone for personal training and group fitness classes. Space is limited, so book your reservation today.


AOERC Fitness Center

  • There are 18 Fitness Center reservations available per hour.
  • Fitness Center sessions start 30 minutes past the hour.
  • Reservations are 45 minutes in length with a 15-minute gap for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • The Strength Training Moat and the Fitness Center are separate reservations – there is no crossover of participants.
  • Reservations will be available online at midnight the day before.
  • Pool Deck Cardio is now discontinued, but you can find the cardio equipment available in the Strength Moat. There is no available cardio equipment in the Fitness Center at this time.
  • We recommend you bring a water bottle, as fountains are currently not available for use. In addition, we ask you to please bring your own towel and mat if needed.
  • HOURS: 8 AM – 8 PM, Monday – Friday, and 12 PM – 5 PM on weekends. 

Strength Training Moat

  • Reservations become available up to a day in advance, no drop-ins.
  • There are 9 Moat reservations available per hour.
  • Moat sessions start 15 minutes past the hour.
  • All reservations are 45 minutes long with a 15-minute gap for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Reservations will be available online at midnight the day before.
  • The Strength Training Moat and the Fitness Center are separate reservations – there is no crossover of participants.
  • P.E. Cycling will now take place in the Strength Moat.
  • We recommend you bring a water bottle, as fountains are currently not available for use. In addition, we ask you to please bring your own towel and mat if needed.
  • HOURS: Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 7:15pm | Saturday & Sunday: 12:30pm – 5:15pm.

Location of Stations

All stations are along the retaining wall to allow appropriate distance in between stations. There are eight Reebok benches from center to South.

  • Dumbbells (3-50 lbs)
  • Barbells (20-70 lbs)
  • Reebok benches

The Cardio Pool Deck is Discontinued


Open-Air Group Fitness Classes

Open-Air Fitness continues through the Spring Quarter! We will be holding our group fitness classes with help from our certified instructors inside and outside our facilities! Our open-air fitness classes follow recommended guidelines for outside activity during COVID-19 so you can join in on the fun while staying safe and socially distanced.

BeWell Berries for Open-Air Fitness

BeWell participants may earn one Berry for each registration of an Open-Air Fitness Class. Berries will be automatically awarded after registration.

We are hosting online zoom classes throughout the Fall Quarter to help keep you moving while social distancing! Our schedule will occur as follows:

BeWell Berries for Virtual Fitness

BeWell participants may earn up to one Berry for participating in a minimum of six Virtual Recreation classes per quarter for at least 30 minutes per class session. Participation will be tracked via Zoom meeting reports.
To receive Berry credit, BeWell participants must register using the recwell.stanford.edu portal and attend via Zoom. Berries will be credited two weeks after the end of the quarter.
Participants may earn a maximum of one Berry per quarter for virtual group fitness classes.


Stanford Redwood City

Stanford Redwood City, Recreation and Wellness Center has reopened indoor operations.

  • The Cardio/Strength floor is available for up to ten reservations per hour.
  • Up to four individuals from the same household can make half-court basketball reservations in the Gymnasium.
  • The Outside Fitness Garden and Rooftop Pool remain open for use by reservation.

You are encouraged to bring your own exercise mat, sweat towel, and water container at this time.

Fitness Garden

Come visit the SRWC Fitness Garden! You will find free weights, including dumbbells and kettlebells, one squat rack, multiple benches, machine weights, fixed EZ curl barbells, and non-powered cardio equipment such as bikes and rowers.
