MB: I’m a project manager in Service Design in the IAIS (Improvement, Analytics, and Innovation Service org.  I have been an employee at Stanford for 3 years.  I love the collegiality of our team, and being able to contribute to Stanford’s mission of academics, research, and health care.

What motivates you to stay consistent with your workouts?

MB: I get the best parking spot when I come in for a 6:30am class!  I sign up for 2 or 3 small races (5k or 10k) each year so I know that I need to stay in relatively good shape.  Plus, it’s great for my health and well being.

What is your favorite part of the Rec & Well Facility or programs offered?

MB:  The early-morning classes are wonderful – good instructors and a dedicated bunch of classmates.

Do you have any goals that you would like to share?

MB: I walked the 500-mile Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail in Spain four years go.  I hope to do another similar trek next year.

How does participating at the Rec & Well Center benefit your professional/personal life?

MB:  Starting the day with physical activity makes me alert when I get to my desk in the morning.  It gives me the energy to do a variety of activities in my personal life, and is a great mood-booster.

Do you have any advice for someone who is starting their “Wellness Journey”?

MB: Start small, and celebrate every accomplishment.

If you had one wish for SRWC Rec & Well Center, what would you wish for?

MB: More people to join us in the 6:30 am classes.  The more, the merrier!
