Community Guidelines and Policies Overview

This list comprises of our most commonly addressed policies. For our full list of policies, see our Policy Handbook on the Community Guidelines and Policy Page.

2.6.1 Safe attire that will not get caught in moving parts, and closed-toed, non-marking soles, are the default expectation. Individual spaces have unique rules that participants are required to follow.

2.6.2 Staff have the authority to determine whether attire is safe for the relevant activity.

2.1.6 Outside of medical assistive devices, wheels are not permitted inside the recreation facilities. This includes, but is not limited to: skateboards, scooters, roller skates/blades, or bikes. Baby strollers are addressed elsewhere in this document.

2.1.3 No person under 18 years old is allowed into the facility outside of Youth and Family Access hours (unless you are a Stanford student or staff member).

4.1.3 Members under 18 years old must be supervised by an adult at all times.

4.1.4 Members under 18 years old may not use the fitness center at any time, even when accompanied by an adult.

Bring your Stanford ID and scan in at the front desk every time you come in

Should you need to make any purchases, please bring a credit card or utilize Apple Pay. Cash is not accepted.

Forgot your ID? Download the Stanford Mobile or Rec and Well App to scan in from your phone.

3.4.1 Daily Use

  • Day use lockers are available in the AOERC, ACSR Ford/Burnham, and SRWC. These lockers require you to bring your own lock. Locks can be purchased at the front desk.

3.4.2 Personal Locks

  • Day-use lockers are free of charge. You may bring your own lock. Please note they will be cleared out each night at the close of business. Any left behind contents will be added to the lost and found.

3.4.3 Long-term Lockers

  • We have men’s, women’s, and all-gender locker rooms available on the first floor of the AOERC. Long-term rentals are distributed via a lottery at Stanford Campus. Additionally, men’s and women’s lockers are available for rent in Ford/Burnham.

As a courtesy to our Recreation community, Recreation and Wellness offers a lost and found service. However, it is important to note that we are not liable for personal items that are left unattended within or outside any of our facilities. Learn more. 

Towel service is offered at the Stanford Redwood City (SRWC) Recreation and Wellness Center. For all other Recreation and Wellness facilities, members should bring their own towels for personal use.
